Yaaawwn! Oh, Hi there big boy!

Twas the day after Thanksgiving and all through the house, not a creature was stirring 'cept the mouse!
The cat has been right by my side getting upset when I stir and get out of bed.
I took Hannah to lunch today to celebrate Thanksgiving and couldn't eat. I got sick yesterday with a horrible migraine type headache and am still sick to my stomach today. Another virus going around!! DANGIT I seem to get everything that goes around. I take mega vitamins, but have zero resistance!
So, I came home and crawled into bed, now I am stirring and getting ready to take my bath and go back to bed. Just thought I'd post something to change the decor. I just love this doggie picture!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hope everyone has a safe trip if you're tripping, good food if you're eating,
Happy times with whoever you are with and get to sleep in and enjoy the day tomorrow!!
Take time to reflect on what you have to be thankful for, even if you think you have nothing, think of the people that have less than you.
I am thankful for the roof over my head, my friends, my family, the Country I live in, my freedom, my sobriety, my health, my job, my cat, my Faith, Bill Gates for inventing this computer way of correspondance, my Canadian buddies, Oh heck, I am one Thankful person!!
I LOVE LIFE!!!
Thanks to all of you!!
Now I need to get my thankful butt in gear and eat my thankful piece of toast and get my thankful self dressed and get my thankful body to my thankful job, and be thankful!!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrowl!

I went to work today and got a nice surprise. I got two hours off to go babysit my three adopted Chinese nieces!! They are so adorable! We watched "Home on the Range" a Disney animated movie of cows running away to a ranch that is being auctioned off. If you get the chance to see it, DO!!
I still haven't seen "Polar Express", but plan on it this weekend.
I then went to Physical Therapy in the pool at the hospital today. It feels so good when I do it!! When the Therapy is done I will go to the pool in Oak Harbor for Aqua aerobics, and get Mary Lou to go with me!!
That should be fun.
I'm actually sitting here crying watching Oprah's "Favorite Things" on tv. Oprah is the best thing alive!! Her heart is really into people. Her audience is made up of nothing but teachers!! They are deserving of all the free things they get from her.
Well that is all I have today.

Wheeeee, look, I have a floppy hat!!

Okay, okay, I'll post!
Actually I was too darned lazy to even think of posting much less finding wise words to put on paper. I was busy in between naps this weekend, and discovered the "Elf bowling" games!! (click on games, then scroll down to elf bowling, elf bowling 2, or elf bowling 3) They are a real hoot! The first one last year was Santa bowling and the elves were the bowling pins, and one obnoxious elf jumping and yelling sarcastic remarks at you! It is a challenge. This year it is an elf in a catapult bra like a sling shot and Santa pulling it trying to make the bullseyes in the snow banks. Try it, it is fun!! You need to play it a few times to figure it out, but trust me, it is actually fun!!
That's all I have tonight.
Time for bed and another week of work.

I've learned....
That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

TeeHeeTeeHeeTeeHeeTeeHee

Well Those who know me well, know that farts are about the funniest thing in the world to me!!
I have a fart machine taped to my door in my office for a doorbell.
People walk by there all the time and push it!
I share my office with an older guy that thinks I am the most obnoxious, disgusting boor there is, so guess what...that just encourages me all the more!! HAHAHAHAHA

I am sitting here watching the conclusion of "Category 6" the disaster movie, and listening to the wind whistle outside. It is only blowing 25 mph now but expecting high winds tonight and tomorrow. So Iwill go get ready for bed and call it a night!

Later, folks!!

What're you looking at!?

I felt like this after Physical Therapy this morning!
I usually go around 4:00 after work, but they could only get me in at 8:00 this morning, so I decided I'd try it. Well I got to work and all I wanted to do was take a nap! The endorphines that worked into my body made me so relaxed I couldn't keep my eyes open. I had so much to do I didn't fall asleep, but I sure wanted to!
No more morning exercises for me!!
It was warm today almost 60 degrees!! But it will cool down again tonight they say.
I've gotten alot of emails lately talking about how dangerous it is to microwave and freeze in plastic. Suposedly it can cause cancer.

Subject: Cancer News From Johns Hopkins
No plastics in micro...No water bottles in freezer.
No plastic wrap in micro Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in their newsletters worth noting...
This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Dioxin Carcinogens cause cancer, especially breast cancer.
Don't freeze your plastic water bottles with water as this also releases dioxins in the plastic.
Dr. Edward Fujimoto from Castle hospital was on a TV program explaining this health hazard.
(He is the manager of the Wellness Program at the hospital.) He was talking about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.
This applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat and plastics releases dioxins into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.
Dioxins are carcinogens and highly toxic to the cells of our bodies.
Instead, he recommends using glass, Corning Ware, or ceramic containers for heating food.
You get the same results, without the dioxins. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He said we might remember when some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper.
The dioxin problem is one of the reasons. To add to this, Saran wrap placed over foods as they are nuked, with the high heat actually drips poisonous toxins into the food, use paper towels.

I went to the John's Hopkins Newsletter on line and it disclaims that rumor!! Now I can put my soups back in the freezer and pull the Saran Wrap out of the trash!!!

I've learned....
That life is like a roll of toilet paper.
The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

BANANAS

I found this article interesting:
Bananas:
Containing three natural sugars -- sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
Depression: According to a recent survey undertakenamongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills -- eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so help in cases of anemia.
Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect food to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex)school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that thepotassium-packed fruit can assist learning by makingpupils more alert.
Constipation: High in fiber, bananas included in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system. (wish I would've known that when I was drinking)!
Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between mealshelps to keep blood sugar levels up, and avoid morning sickness.
Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute ofPsychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort foods like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels bysnacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours tokeep levels steady.
Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food againstintestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananasas a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananasto ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can helpSAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer, tryptophan. Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to giveup smoking. The B6 and B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of ahigh-potassium banana snack.
Strokes: According to research in "The New EnglandJournal of Medicine,"eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, andtwice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe it's time to change that well-known phrase so that we say,
"A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

sometimes I just don't know if I'm coming or going!

I guess if it's warm and wet and running down my legs, I'm going!
Oh never mind!!

Seriously, I went to the luncheon today and realized I forgot to take my insulin so I had to go home and take it, (I live 10 miles away) then it was too late to go to the movies so I finished my laundry and made my bed then was tired, so I lay down to rest my back and woke up at 8:00pm!! Well that took care of that!

Now I am rested and ready to go! It is midnight, and I started my mending, then half way through that I went to my crocheting, then went to my puzzle, then went to do my nails, then went to clean the kitchen, then went back to my mending then back to crocheting, then....WHEW! I just run circles sometimes. I guess the "professionals" call it attention deficit disorder! Well it worked great when I was a bartender because I had to be on the ball and do all sorts of things all at once. Now it is rather frustrating as I always have a million things I'm working on and forget the important things sometimes. My poor boss has been frustrated with me more than once, but has had patience and sees the person inside this forgetful whirlwind of me!
My mind just gets so overwhelmed sometimes. At least I still have a mind, huh?! SHUT UP MARY LOU!!

I think I'm just gonna leave it all and take it back up tomorrow morning! I see that bed calling me with my book!! Good night all, and Happy Sunday!!

Thought for the day:
I always know God won't give me more than I can handle but there are times I wish He didn't trust me quite so much.

HAHAHAHA Don't ya just love this?!!

I have this picture in my office. I just love it!!
How appropriate!!
I know a few couples just like this!!
Well my Friday was just great. I had a good day at work then went into Oak Harbor to run some errands for work and came home for a nap and now I am recharged for the big night out tonight.
I am taking Hannah to lunch tomorrow then maybe I'll go to the 4:00 movie to watch "Polar Express".
I like movies like that and I love Tom Hanks.
After the movie I will go to Church then shop and get home around 9:00pm.
Then I will finish the laundry and go to bed. WOO HOO!!
What an exciting life, huh? Well it is exactly the way I like it now so there!!
Y'all have a great Saturday!!

Thought for the day:
Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Another goofy dog picture

I can't help it....I love these silly pictures!
I have a friend that has a dog that plays with as many balls that he can stuff in his mouth like this.
I didn't know there were other dogs that did that until I came across this picture on the net!
Y'all have a great Thursday! I sure will!!

Man driving down road.
Woman driving up same road.
They pass each other.
Woman yells out window, "PIG!".
Man yells out window, "BITCH!".
Man rounds next curve.
Crashes into a huge pig in middle of road.

Put on a smile!

Sometimes you just have to paint on your smile!
Working in customer service all my life it is important to keep a smile on your face, but sometimes it is just hard to do. I came across this picture and thought it was so cute!
I wonder what people would do if I just smacked a smile on like that? I've seen little cardboard masks that have a smile or a frown, and you can put them up in front of your face.
Well I guess I am just groping for something to blog about here.
I came home an hour early today and took a nap. I was tired so jumped at the chance to nap!
I woke up at 4:30 and now it feels like it is really late but it is only 6:00. This early darkness is weird.
Hope everyone's week is going good.
It is great to see Wanda back, and Dave too....go say hello to them!!

Time to clean out the fridge!

Sundays are my day for "putzing". Today I have been thinking about cleaning out the fridge and throwing away whatever I am afraid to open up and look at.
I saw this picture on the web and thought it really cute. Having had a Siberian Husky once, this is not an unusual occurance. They are very mischievious and adorable at the same time. I sure miss Tlingit, but will not get another dog as they are high maintenance. A cat you can feed and leave alone for a day or two. A dog will dial 911 and let out a pitiful howl!!
My sister called me on December 24th about four years ago asking me where Tlingit was. I said he was in the backyard, why? She said she was listening to the police scanner and heard the Coupeville cop say he was en route from Prairie Center to the Dog Pound with one very friendly husky! I looked in the back yard and sure enough, there was a small hole in the fence where Tlingit chewed through and escaped!! So I got dressed and ran to the pound. There he was all excited to see me and ready to tell me all about his adventure!!
That cost me $55.00 to bail him out!!
Huskies are escape artists and love to run!! I have a small backyard so there is no place for him to run. I took him out to the Transit facility where we are fenced in all around, and let him loose to run. He ran as fast as he could to the end of the yard and dug a hole, crawled under and ran like Hell across the highway to the neighbors yard and had jumped on the cage of their prized rabbitt and let it loose and ruined the cage and tore the tarp by the time I got to him. That cost me about $50.00 also!! Then he looks at me all excited as though he is supposed to act like that!! He was so cute!! He died a few months after the Christmas Eve episode of a tumor. He was a great companion with a great personality, and taught me alot about dogs, but NOPE no more dogs for me!!

Any body have any cute mischievious pet stories?

Thought for the day:
Dogs have owners......Cats have staff!

Don't Quit!

Darn, I was hoping this would be big enough to read. Now I have to hunt it down and copy the words.

Don't Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit -- Rest if you must, but don't you quit!
Life is queer with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a person turns about When they might have won had they stuck it out,
Don't give up though the pace seems slow --
You may succeed with another blow, Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victors cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown!
Success is failure turned inside out!
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit!
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn't quit!

The reason I picked this beautiful print and poem is because so many people in blog land are going through a really rough time right now, and I feel it is appropriate.

I just read where our blogging friend Ellen has asked for prayers as she just discovered her cancer that has been in remission for three years has returned and she will be in for the fight of her life!
I pray for God to give her strength to go through the treatments and for her to keep her positive attitude!
I am praying that God will find in His will to cure her of this dreaded disease!

I am sending her one of my Guardian Angels to be by her side through all this! (I have a few that have worked overtime for me, and think they will give her some support and comfort).

I will keep her in my prayers and ask any of you to do the same. I truly believe prayers help!

God Bless you Ellen!

Brrrrrr...

Our first official freeze of the year is going on right now!
I was out about an hour ago looking for the Northern Lights and noticed the frost shimmering on the deck.
I purchased some rubber mats to put on the deck so I won't do my break dance on the ice this year! On the lower part of the deck I tacked a strip of my old carpet where I walk so I won't slip and fall flat on my back and get stuck on the icy deck in my flannel nightgown like I did this last Spring!!
I didn't see any Auroras tonight.

I feel like it is New Years day after a night of partying. The stress of the elections did me in.....I was totally bushed today. (Teeheeheeheehee). I commented on another's blog and realized what I said, and thought it was funny. Get it? Bush...(bushed). Oh never mind!

Today's tidbit....If it weren't for STRESS I'd have no energy at all.

Y'all have a great Thursday!!

Monday, November 01, 2004

Please, let these elections be over soon!!

I had a full day at work today after 5 days of being sick!
I am DOG TIRED!! I think I will take a long shower and get my book and go to bed around 8:00 and escape from the television and have a good nights sleep!!
I will say some deep prayers tonight asking for the elections to go by without any horrible incidents, and that whoever wins, the other will be a gracious loser.

We are having a typical November storm tonight. The wind is blowing and the rain is hitting the windows sideways. The temp is 45 and a warm front is blowing through melting the snow in the passes that we got this weekend. Now there are flood watches in some of the rivers. Tomorrow night a cold front will blow through making more snow for the mountain passes. I love it!! I also love that I can stay in my warm bed listening to the storm knowing I won't be called out in it to rescue someone!! I paid my dues for 15 years in the Fire Department, now some young whipper snapper can do it and I can listen to my scanner.
Ahhhhh, calgon take me away!!
Y'all have a safe night and don't forget to VOTE tomorrow!!
