Ahhhhhh, Much Better!!

So, How hot is it in your neck of the woods?
I thought this picture would cool you down some.
It is only 81 degrees here now, but soon to be higher. We are not prepared for hot weather here. I don't know of anyone that has an air conditioner except maybe Walmart and the other stores. So guess where I'll be later if it gets hotter!!

Hope everyone is staying cool!!

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but
they all exist very nicely in the same box.

Yep...Summer is definately here!!

You just never know....

A man and his wife are awakened at 3 o`clock in the morning by a loud
pounding on the back door....... The man gets up and goes to the door
where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a
"Not a chance," says the husband, "It is three o`clock in the morning."
He slams the door and returns to bed.
"Who was that?" asked his wife.
"Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers.
"Did you help him?" she asks.
"No. I did not. It is three o`clock in the morning and it is pouring
rain outside!!."
His wife said, "Don`t you remember about three months ago when we broke
down and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him, and you
should be ashamed of yourself!"
The man does as he is told (of course!), gets dressed and goes out into
the pouring rain.
He calls out into the dark, "Hello! Are you still there?"
"Yes," comes back the answer.
"Do you still need a push?" calls out the husband.
"Yes! Please!" comes the reply from the darkness.
"Where are you?" asks the husband.
"Over here on the swing!!" replies the drunk

I was driving Front Street downtown Coupeville and saw my friends boat the Colin Archer. Bob bought it and had it brought around the Cape and up to Coupeville. His dream was to live on it, but his wife wanted a house with more stability!
My friends boat the "Colin Archer".

Their house is the white one.

The poor folks don't get a good view of Mount Baker at all!

A zoom of Mount Baker!

As I was playing with my camera, I decided to zoom in on the mountain.
It is a big one all right.

I've learned....That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The
closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

These creatures belong in a Doctor Suess book!!

I keep my camera with me at all times, so when I stopped by this field of Alpacas, I had to snap their picture. They are so comical looking. How do they keep that head up on those long necks? We have some weied creatures on this Island! We also have some Buffalo, Ostrich's, who knows what else.

Ooooh! I just heard that Southwest Montana had a 5.6 earthquake! Is that near the Caldera in Yellowstone? YIKES!! Run for your lives, folks, the big one is comin!!
I saw a special on the big Caldera, and it frightened me. Then they had that movie just recently. Hmmmmm!

There goes my vivid imagination. I don't need spooky books, I just lay back and let my mind take over.

Well I have to go to bed early, I have to be on the 8:00am ferry to go to Everett tomorrow for an OSHA update class. Thrills!
Have a great week!!

Some people are like Slinky's...

Not really good for anything but they bring a smile to your face when you
push 'em down a flight of stairs.

My fried Brian (Chris's friend). I give him $6.00 a week to water my plants. He needs it for his toys at Kmart.

My tomato plants are right behind him in the Whiskey Barrels. He is watering the Lavendar plants. I cut the flowers already.
Today was perfect!! 75 degrees, a slight breeze and SUN! We had our anual company picnic, and I went for three hours then came home and napped for an hour. Now I am fighting to keep my eyes open for one more hour before I go to bed for the night at 9:30! Hope everyone has a great week!!

My dainty "Punkin" high on Catnip, showing her dirty butt fur!!

The Queen had this quiz on her site and I asked her to send me 5 questions, so here they are. Anyone want to play, I'll think of 5 questions for them.

1) You are very proud of your sobriety( which you absolutely should be!!!) When did it strike you that you had a problem with drinking? Where were you?
A: It struck me all along whenever I had a blackout, then I would stay sober for awhile, then start drinking again, then in about three or four months I’d go on a toot and get snockered again! I was on a water rescue (I worked on the ambulance and the rescue squad) on June 21, 1987. 6 people were in the water, a helicopter picked them out of the water and brought them to shore, I would run up to the chopper and get the victim on a backboard and run them to the ambulance, and then they would bring another victim. After that I got really drunk at the local bar and went home and passed out. I “came to” in the operating room when they pulled a baby out of my friend. She went into labor at 5:00am and two deputies came and woke me up and told me to get to the hospital to watch Dee have her baby. I guess I drove. Who knows. Anyways, the Paramedic I was working with a few days later told me he was an alcoholic with 5 years sobriety, and thought I was an alcoholic too. Then he bet me $50.00 that I couldn’t go 6 months without a drink. Well that was the incentive for me!!

2) Do you dream in color or black and white?
A: Color I think.

3) If you could be an insect which would you be, and why?
A: A lady bug. I think they are adorable and bring good luck.

4)If you created a new color, what would it most resemble and what would you call it?
A: Marbly irredescent purplish blueish silverish (Heavenly skies)

5)If you could be a time of day or night, which would it be and why?
A: Dusk. The world is going to bed and putting things at peace.

The rules:
1) Leave me a comment saying interview me please.
2) I will respond by asking you five questions. ( not the same as you see here.)
3) You will update your blog/site with the interview questions.
4) You will include this explanation and offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5) When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

The Queen sent me these questions….Okay, anyone want to play?

There was a little girl who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good, she was very, very good.
But when she was bad........
She got a fur coat, jewels, a waterfront condo, and a sports car.

I can't figure out this cat of mine!! I fill her water glass (yes it is a glass) full of fresh water and next thing I know she is drinking the stale water from MY glass!! I can trade glasses, but she just KNOWS which glass is mine, and she drinks it!! Hmmmpppff!!

I got home from work late tonight. I had to be at a public meeting on Camano Island (1 1/2 hours away) so I didn't get home until 8:30.
I am pooped!! So it is bed time for me!

GEORGIE PORGY Pudding and Pie,
Kissed the girls and made them cry.
And when the boys came out to play,
He kissed them too 'cause he was gay.

I got to babysit my favorite little girls yesterday, and asked them to pose for me. Well that didn't work!

So I begged, PLEASE pose pretty for me! GIRLS!! Look at me!! Hmmmpppfff!!

I begged....Plleeease smile?

They lost interest and found my drum....

Finally, the little one came and warmed up to me! There goes my heart!!

They are such happy girls, and I feel honored to be called "Aunt Phyllis" really honored!
I had another full weekend, and I am bushed! And very content.

Today I started out my day surprising Hannah at the annual senior picnic at the manor! She always has this surprise smile for me and screams with glee!

They make all the seniors wear these hokey straw hats, and she hates them! She knows they are hokey!

Here's a picture of the other hats. (no, I refused to wear one)!!

I went to Hannah's room and got her classy red hat. She felt better about that. She now has her dignity back!

We had a blast laughing and joking about the day.

They had an Oompa band that played old music from the 40's. Hmmm, I wonder what kind of bands will be playing at the senior homes in another 25 years....Rock bands??

A friend from work was there with her father and mother.

I could only last about two hours there, so left around 2:00pm. On the way out I took this picture of a Monarch butterfly playing in the Lavender.

I met Mary Lou and we went shopping in Burlington. While I was in a store she took this picture so I just had to post it!! Hehehehe

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,
All the King's horses and all the kings men
had scrambled eggs for breakfast again!!

A Town Chracter

Notice I titled him A town character, not The town character.
We do have our share here in this little town of Coupeville. I have seen this man for years going to the Post Office for his mail, and finally stopped today and asked if he would mind if I took his picture. He said he didn't mind, so I clicked away! I asked his name, and I think he said Ben. Any way, he is always wearing this skirt and is barefoot. He showed me the brand on the skirt and it is "utilikilts". It is made of the same material as workpants with utility pockets. I went to the website and saw that they make all different kinds of them. Well us women have been wearing mens pants for years, so why not men wearing skirts? Well come on now, at least SHAVE YOUR LEGS!!! ICK!
I really wanted to ask him if he was wearing anything underneath, but I was afraid he would show me his utilithong!! hahahahahahhahahaha
Ohhh, it's FRIDAY, and I have had QUITE A WEEK!!
enough said.
I must get to my AA meeting tonight!

HEY DIDDLE, DIDDLE the cat took a piddle,
All over the bedside clock.
The little dog laughed to see such fun.
Then died of electric shock.

Race Week in Penn Cove

On the way home from work I stop at the Post Office and pick up my mail then drive the mile home. Across and down the street from the Post Office is the pier. Sailboat races occur every July. This week is the week, and today was perfect for them with just enough breeze for the sails.
As you can see we had a few puffy white clouds in the blue sky, and the water had a few ripples on it. We get whales at times in the water in Penn Cove. Not often, but we do. Probably in September when the smelt are running through.

Boy, what a tough place I live in, huh?

SIMPLE SIMON met a Pie man going to the fair.
Said Simple Simon to the Pie man,
"What have you got there?"
Said the Pie man unto Simon,
"Pies, you dumb #$%!"

The best window seat around!

I just made my bed with clean sheets and went to the bathroom to get something and came back and found the "Princess Punkin" at her seat! Hmmppff!
She just couldn't wait for the clean pillow case! Now I'll have to brush kitty litter off it!
You can see my headboard is actually my window. I can look out to the Prairie and at times watch a Soccer game over the fence. I can see some of the Cascade mountain range too. I love my spot in the world here. I like to travel and vist places and dream of living in Alaska, but I am content here. I have all I need, and am very comfortable in what I have, and not wishing I had more. Too bad everyone else can't be as content as I am.
Alcoholics Anonymous has taught me acceptance. I live by the Serenity Prayer.

Serenity Prayer:
God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Here's a cute article:
the World's ugliest dog!

Wouldn't you just love to cuddle up to that? EEEYYYUUUUU!
Sassy Ponies!

On my drive to work I drive two miles through the Country. A few months ago I noticed these Ponies at the fence of a farm. Someone bought a farmhouse and fixed it up real nice and put two ponies, two cows and two goats in a fenced area. Hmmm, I hope I don't see them building an Ark pretty soon!
I just love to watch these ponies run around all frisky. I wish I had some of their energy! They are so cute! They only come up to my waist.

I woke up at 4:00am this morning, and yesterday too. I hate that! Now I will be dragged out at work and come home and fight taking a nap so I can get a good nights sleep tonight.

Well so much for my whining! Life is GOOD!! I hope y'all have a marvelous Tuesday!

Her father shot it dead.
Now it goes to school with her,
Between two hunks of bread.

Catnip Anonymous anyone?

So while I am at my AA meeting, my cat is rolling in her catnip! Hmmmpppff!

We had a speaker tonight from Wichita Falls Texas. She is in her 70's and has been sober nearly 26 years. I loved listening to her talk. She has a nice drawl and she has such grace. A real lady! It was hard to imagine her drinking until she puked all over herself, which she did at times in her youth. She talked about when she was in the Air Force and then how she found sobriety. I sponsor her sister which found sobriety a year and a half ago. It is never too late, folks! But it was too late for a young gal that the lady sponsored earlier this year. The young gal went back out drinking and got into drugs and they found her dead. How very sad, and helpless the friends and family feel when that happens. Alcohol/drug addiction is deadly. I was one of the lucky ones that found sobriety when I did!

So I come home and find my cat all drugged out on her catnip. I need to talk with her!!

Rhyme for today:

MARY had a little pig
She kept it fat and plastered;
And when the price of pork went up,
She shot the little bastard.

Decked out for the 4th!

Well ok, I'll post this picture.
I hate pictures of myself. This picture is after I lost 60 pounds since March! So just imagine what I looked like then! eeyyuuu! No, don't!
I still have another 100 pounds to go, but I will keep at it. The weight fell off quickly when I quit insulin. Now the struggle begins. It was tough this week with all the BBQ's I went to! I cannot eat like that daily, that is for sure!

This also shows my eyes. I have always had puffy eyes, so what makeup I wear doesn't show very much or else rubs right off. I don't think the eyeliner tattooes look bad at all. In answer to all the questions, No it didn't hurt bad at all. It was more irritating than anything. The next day was like a burning sensation. Kinda like after you cried yourself to sleep (not that I have ever done that). Hmmppff!
The most of it has faded, and will be re-enhanced August 4th. I guess they expect that, and book the next appointment when they do the initial liner.

Well today was the only day I haven't had a big plan. I went to Bible study tonight but other than that, I slept and did nothing all day. Well I did the laundry, but that was only two loads. Ok, so I cannot just do NOTHING!! I am off until Monday, but I am doing something every day.
I love life and take advantage of every day!!
Have a great 7th everybody!!

Remember the three R's:
Respect for self; Respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions.

My Jewelry Holder

I told Leslie that I would get a picture of my jewery holder. I bought it at the Coupeville Festival a few years back.
Hope everyone had a great 4th, and hope your 5th is as great!

Waiting for the bus.....that never came!

Here we are waiting at the Park & Ride like the paper told us to, waiting for the bus to take us to the beach and watch the 3rd of July Fireworks.
The bus never came so we walked the half mile to the beach. I was so embarrased because I booked the special service for the buses, and they decided not to go to the park & ride because of all the traffic! HHHMMMPPPFF!

Freeland puts on a fantastic old fashioned 4th of July fireworks show on the 3rd of July every year. They get a huge discount for the show because the barge is on the way to Roche Harbor for their 4th of July show and give it to us the day before.
Chatting and waiting!

Here we are all sitting in the grass waiting for the show.

It was upper 70's when we left at 7:00pm tonight, but was in the 50's when the sun went down and the 12 mph wind came up.

The fireworks began!

And what a show it was!!
I had such a full day today. We had another great Church Service and after that I ran home to get ready for 15 people coming over for an impromptu get together BBQ! I had an hours nap then picked up my friends Steve, Sheryl, Carol, Dave, & Cheryl and drove 25 miles South to Freeland for the fire works.
It was so great, we were listening to old fashioned marching music and oooooing and ahhhhhing to the fireworks. It is now 1:30am and I am POOPED!
I have another BBQ (AA friends)to go to tomorrow, then run to my sis's house for another one, then Fireworks again!!
Gosh, I love my life!
Y'all have a SAFE & SANE 4th!

A few great sites to visit! ENJOY!!
