Look What I Bought!

One thing I love about my Church is the Praise Team. We play great uplifting music. Since we started our branch in Coupeville, our team is lacking ooomph! The team in Oak Harbor has a lady about my age playing the Conga Drum and she throws herself into it! I just love watching her. Well I am going to learn how to play the drum and join our team! My brother plays guitar at his Church so I will ask him if I can jam with him. Not that I don't have enough to do in my spare time!

It just popped in my head today. I was at the Christian Store buying a wedding card for a couple I am witnessing for and the music store was next door, and this drum just happened to be on sale! So $162.45 later, I am outside with my drum feeling like a teenager! Maynard G. Krebbs (Gilligan's Island later) was one of my favorite people in the early 60's on Dobie Gillis. He played the bongo drums. I guess he was a beatnik before hippies.

Well time to fix my hair. I am going to witness a friend from work getting married.
Y'all have a great day!

Natures Beauty!

I saw this picture on an email and loved it!

We had a marvelous Worship today. The interim Pastor was hired as our permanent Pastor! Praise the Lord! He is a great speaker and he speaks from his heart. Nothing fake about that man at all. We all accept him with open loving arms!
Our topic today was Reconciliation. It focused on patching relationships in our lives and for us to look where we need to work on it. A great subject. Life is way too short for resentments to go between loved ones. So if you need to make amends or just rekindle a relationship, do it now.

I am having a barbecue this afternoon. It started out that Tom and Deb wanted to meet and pray over my brother for his back. Well they keep making new dates to meet, so I decided to have them all over to my house and let it go from there. Well I asked Tom and he said his two kids wouldn't feel comfortable without other kids, so I told him Chris my little friend and his family will be here too. Well I thought about my other friends Steve and Sheryl, and knew their feelings would be hurt if they found out they weren't included so I invited them too (we are a big family). Well speaking of family, Mary Lou my real sister would hear about it and wonder why she wasn't invited, so I asked her too. I just didn't know if she would feel comfortable with my Church friends, but after all, we are all one big family, well I was talking with my Neice and invited her too! (see where this is going)?
I can't do anything without going ALL OUT!!
So now I have 16 people coming over for a hot dog grill. Well I was shopping Friday and thought hmmm, maybe some people won't want hot dogs, so I bought hamburger makings too, well ya gotta have potato salad and baked beans...(see where this is going)? Yep...I spent $100.00 on enough food to have a barbecue every weekend for the rest of the summer!! HAHAHAHA I usually go camping this weekend and buy enough food for the entire campground. I live alone, folks, WHY DO I DO THIS? because I love to entertain!

I sure hope everyone enjoys the weekend!!
Take time to reflect on all the wars and all the people military and civilians alike that lost their lives or loved ones for the sake of our freedom. AMEN!

I saw this on coptalk's site and had to share it!!

I got my hugs tonight!

Tonight was my Friday night AA meeting. I love it. we have a great fellowship and we are all friends. We all hug each other and that makes it special.
Tonight I was sharing and a friend sat next to me and told me that a friend of ours got drunk in Mexico with her husband on a vacation and he beat her close to death. I left at half time to go to her house and another friend wanted to go with me. we went to my friends house and she was there by herself, and her face was black all along the left side! I asked what happened, and she told me her husband beat her. I said you both were drunk, weren't you? She got mad and yelled that he beat her close to death and that she was sick of everyone thinking it was because she was drunk.
WE all see patterns like this in AA. It takes two for fights. They both were drunk, but he went over the boundaries by beating her. But...this would not have happened if they were both sober. She told me he wanted her to drink so she did. Poor excuse, and she knows it. She has a restraining order out on him and thinks all will be well now. Well maybe it won't. He could very easily come to her (their) house and break in and beat the crap outa her or kill her. She knew what he was like before they got married, (a year and a half ago), and I tried to talk her out of it, but she followed her heart.
You cannot expect a person to change after you get married. Love is still blind I guess. It is the age old story.
I feel so blessed that I am a free spirit and will not put up with such behaviour!!
I don't know why some gals think that they have to have a man even if he beats her and makes her work while he stays home jobless. Sheesh!
Thank you Lord for letting me be who I am!!
You are all that I need!!
AMEN!!

Geeeeeze it is HOT!!!!

My oh my!! It is 95.9 here at my house. Probably more like 85 in the shade!! Ya gotta understand....we don't get that hot here!! Especially on Memorial Day weekend!
But of course I am usually camping right now so I decide not to camp this year and we get the hot weather. Go figure!!

I am off now for 5 days so I can relax a bit. I don't get two weeks right now because I am in the midst of training new Operators and starting new routes.

But that is ok, I really don't have the extra cash for two weeks in a row.

Well I'm gonna go get naked and lay on my bed and cool off!!
UH-OH!! The news just said we are gonna get hotter.

Punkin found the Catnip plant!!

Oh yeahhhhh!

Well I just figured out how to put two pictures in the same box!!
I'm getting too smart for my own good!!

I also found out tonight that a catnip plant is not a good thing to keep as an indoor plant. I had to go back to work for a few hours this evening to be there when the new drivers got off shift for debriefing, and got home to find this scene.

She's sleeping it off right now.
I guess I'll have to take her to catnips anonymous now.

I just couldn't resist this picture!

I get numerous e-mails, most of them jokes. I received this one the other day and I just couldn't resist posting it! It is just so FUNNY.
Ok, I guess I'm twisted.

I told my Testimony today again at Church and most of us were crying. I told them all about my upbringing in an alcoholic family then being an alcoholic myself, having a stillborn, then continuing drinking. Bartending, and in a very dull unhappy marriage. I then joined the Volunteer Fire Department which gave me some focus, and I got really drunk one night (June 21 1987) and made a fool of myself among the medics. A medic made a bet with me that I couldn't go 6 months without a drink, and the rest is history. (Yes I collected the $50.00 on December 21, 1987).

I then told them about my health starting to go bad at 48 years old, and how bad I was feeling this past Fall. I was morbidly obese taking insulin, unable to walk 20 feet without gasping for air, and my back was hurting me constantly. I was so depressed and feeling like I wouldn't last another 2 years. I was cleaning things out in my house and subconsciously making plans. I was training people at work how to do my job just in case I couldn't make it to work. On March 2, this year 2 days after an injection in my spine my Bible study gals came over and annointed my forehead with oil and prayed deeply over me asking God to heal me and give me energy. I was so very overwhelmed that they thought enough about me to do that!

Well miraculously the next few days my blood sugars were dropping which made me back off of my insulin, then a week later I stopped insulin all together. I'm not stupid enough to think that God cured me of Diabetes, but I do know He gave me the kick start to go off insulin and to eat right and exercise as much as I can. My back is still bad but not as bad. I have been off insulin now since March 18, and have lost 55 pounds. The week I quit insulin my breathing returned to normal. I feel so good now I feel guilty! I know it is going to be a long hard journey fighting this disease but I am so much better now!
I know most of you have heard this story too many times, but that is what happened to me today.
Yesterday I got to be among 4 other "retired old Firefighters" cutting the ribbon for the new Fire Station.
Hope everyone else had a good weekend! You Canadian friends up North are having a long weekend. ENJ)OY!! I am having a long weekend next weekend!!

this is the cute little twerp that caused all my blogger problems with "Punkin".

Praise the Lord!!

Yahoo!! Yippee!!
I was laying in bed thinking there has to be a simple solution to this entire mess on my blog, and came out here (1:00am) And read some emails from blogger. They gave me some names to look up, and I saw a weird one so I changed that password and voila!!
I couldn't sleep, I was tossing and turning and something told me to get up and come out here, so I did! Now I have absolutely nothing to say!!
More tomorrow!!

Oh! and I realized I will not allow a cute little 11 year old boy to play on my computer any more!!

And thanks for all the kind words from y'all!

Mothers day!!

I don't know how to insert pictures in a blog as I write it, so just scroll down to read the blog after 3 pictures!
Mothers day from an 11 year old
Mothers day from an 11 year old!
Man, what a day!!

Man, Friday was a FULL day!
I hit the floor running, being busy at work I put on a class then tried to get some paperwork done, but ended up stuffing it in a big basket and bringing it all home to sort out later. I got home around 4:00 to take a nap. I got on my bed and was getting comfortable and my 11 year old Mexican friend Chris came over. I swear he has radar, but I really love the kid so I got up. I have been teaching him how to work in stained glass, and gave him a project to do for his mother for mothers day.
I pushed him to finish the copper foiling so I could solder it together. While I was soldering, I showed him my "card making" cart and told him to pick a picture and he can make a card for his mother for mothers day. He went one better and found a love poem on the internet written in Spanish for the inside of the card. Then he started pasting it inside the card and saw all the goodies in the cart. He went wild and was so excited! I think he was more excited about the card than the candle shelter he made. But we finished it and got it wrapped. He wanted to rush it right over to her, but I made him wait until Sunday. He is soooo adorable and polite! He is full of love to give. He will go places I'm sure. He is very intelligent for a boy his age.
After all that I picked up a friend and took her to the AA speaker meeting. I got my hugs for the week there, and after the meeting We stopped and got some fat free no sugar added caramel swirl ice cream and some sugar free apricot jam and headed for an ice cream social at my Church. We got there at 9:30 and had our ice cream, and then started playing some game like charades, but it is timed. We laughed so hard we hurt. We acted like a bunch of 13 year old girls laughing out loud and shouting out some disgusting not so ladylike words!! You'd never know we were a bunch of "Church Ladies" at an "Ice cream social"!! But then I'm afraid I might have started yelling the crude words. One gal was trying to get us to say saddle, and kept jumping up and patting her butt. I yelled FART! Well that started it! The rest of the night was a real gas! Pun intended. We finally got out of there at 12:30 and I fell into bed at 1:30 totally exhausted, but so full of happiness!!
Ahhhhh Calgon take me away!

Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.

Awesome!

Life is goood!
I was going to my Bible Study tonight and as I got out of my car I looked up and saw this Awesome work of God sitting on top of this tree!
He looked down at me and looked over to the building I was going to then I took the picture and he flew off flying low over the building then up over to the power pole. I got in and told the gals what I saw and realized I left my glasses in the car and went back out to the car and another Eagle flew over me to the tree!
I went back into the room and we did some serious talking and praying. One of the gals looked over to the low window and said "Look!" He was sitting in the grass right outside the window watching us! It was like he was trying to tell us something. God sure makes some beautiful creatures!

Don't cry because its over,
smile because it happened.

We prayed some more and
It's hump day!! (I wish)

My Butt hurts!! I had a shot in my Illiac area next to my hip yesterday and it still hurts! But the good news is, my leg doesn't hurt now, so maybe this did the trick!!
I went out after work and planted 5 tomato plants and 11 flower pots in my back yard.
Now I need to get the canopy up and I'm ready for Summer!! Bring on the steaks!!
It's supposed to rain now for the rest of the week.

Being "over the hill" is much better than being under it!

Here's the real poop on poop!!

From http://www.smellypoop.com/poop.html

What is poop made of?
About 3/4 of your average turd is made of water. Of course, this value is highly variable - the water content of diarrhea is much higher, and the amount of water in poop that has been retained (voluntarily or otherwise) is lower. Water is absorbed out of fecal material as it passes through the intestine, so the longer a turd resides inside before emerging, the drier it will be.
Of the remaining portion of the turd, about 1/3 is composed of dead bacteria. These microcorpses come from the intestinal garden of microorganisms that assist us in the digestion of our food. Another 1/3 of the turd mass is made of stuff that we find indigestible, like cellulose, for instance. This indigestible material is called "fiber," and is useful in getting the turd to move along through the intestine, perhaps because it provides traction. The remaining portion of the turd is a mixture of fats such as cholesterol, inorganic salts like phosphates, live bacteria, dead cells and mucus from the lining of the intestine, and protein.
Why does poop stink?
Poop stinks as a result of the products of bacterial action. Bacteria produce smelly, sulfur-rich organic compounds such as indole, skatole, and mercaptans, and the inorganic gas hydrogen sulfide. These are the same compounds that give farts their odor.

Why is poop brown?
The color comes mainly from bilirubin, a pigment that arises from the breakdown of red blood cells in the liver and bone marrow. The actual metabolic pathway of bilirubin and its byproducts in the body is very complicated, so we will simply say that a lot of it ends up in the intestine, where it is further modified by bacterial action. But the color itself comes from iron. Iron in hemoglobin in red blood cells gives blood its red color, and iron in the waste product bilirubin gives rise to its brown color.

To SmellyPoop.com
Hi,
A friend of mine just sent me the link to your website for fun. I really enjoyed the ‘Survival Guide for Taking a Dump at Work’. However, I believe that there is an error among your explanation for the color of feces. The brown color is a result of broken down red blood cells, but I don’t think that it’s a result of iron. Most of the iron that is released from the breakdown of heme is reabsorbed by cells in the bone marrow for incorporation into new red blood cells. That’s why we don’t have a large daily requirement for iron in our diets. Anyhow, what remains of the hemoglobin is then called biliverdin, which is converted into bilirubin and is excreted. This compound can build up in some people and cause jaundice. The colors of these molecules are due to their complex structures, which contain rings of carbon and nitrogen atoms. Intestinal bacteria further modify bilirubin to produce urobilinogen and stercobilinogen. If I remember correctly, the red color of blood is also due to the porphyrin ring of heme and not iron.

So, you’re absolutely correct to say that it’s a complicated explanation and it has to do with the breakdown of red blood cells, but I don’t think that iron has anything to do with the brown color of poop or the red color of blood.

Don't take life too seriously; No one gets out alive.
