Trick-or-treat!!

I am so happy! My favorite little people in the world stopped by to get some goodies!! They are growing so fast. The little one in yellow can actually talk now! These little girls have stolen my heart!
Halloween is fun, and I just love to see the little ones out there. I'm sure in a few years there will be no more house to house trick-or-treating as it is getting so dangerous in the big towns. But here we are still safe. Well I think so anyway! I just had a group of teens on a scavenger hunt and I gave them some black nail polish, some dental floss, a purple pen, and umm, a roll of toilet paper! I told them I better not see any toilet paper on my yard or My place of work's yard! They giggled, and I said "I know who you are". They giggled and left, then I saw about 10 other teen boys streaking down the road!! They had masks and boxers on! Oh, I wish I was young again! No....I'd be right in the middle of them wearing my teddy!! (I could do it in those days)! Oh heck, why not do it now??? WAIT FOR ME BOYS!!!!!
That looks like so much fun! I remember the time a few of us teens stole an outhouse from Sherman's field and put it in the middle of the road in front of Sealy's Tavern! heeheeheeheehee! (1966). Then we stole a bunch of turkeys from the turkey farm and stuffed them in the lobby of the Post Office! I didn't know until ten years ago that they flew over the partition and destroyed the mail room!! OOOOOOPS!! I was just a crazy teen then, working my way to becoming the alcoholic. Always the adrenalin junkie I was!!
Ho hum, time for my bath to soak my aching bones, and to bed by 10:00!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Who'da thunk???

This is a wiglet.

Ok, everyone seems to be confused on what a wiglet is.
Here I am wearing it. It is a patch of false hair to pin on your head to cover some ugly hair.
It flew off whjen I fell!! HAHAHAHA I'm lucky a night owl didn't swoop down and fly off with it!! HAHAHAHA

A fine pillow!

That is a weird heading for this picture but hold on, let me explain.
I was working today and a fine old fellow called and needed his Paratransit eligibilty approved for Monday. Well it was 3:30 and if I went into Oak Harbor I wouldn't get off untill around 6:00 because I had other work to do. So to save gas, and to save time, I told him I would stop by this evening before my AA meeting which starts at 8:00, so I would be there around 7:15.
Ya still with me? Good. Well I head into Oak Harbor and find his place around 7:15. It was hard to see his address because it was dark....really dark. I find it, and park in the street and walk up his smooth clean concrete driveway into his carport to his door. Ya still with me?
Ok, you see that cute little square garden bed framed with red brick and filled with very very sharp lava rock and two, well now one and a half, nice heather plants?
Yep...you guessed right! I fell flat on my face! I mean I fell HARD!! REAL HARD!!
I was walking on nice smooth concrete then all of a sudden I was in mid air and then OOOOF!
I was laying there after my OOOOOF fall and trying to get up. My knees were imbedded in the lava rock or actually the lava rock was imbedded in my knees and hurting like HECK-A-ROO (if that is a word). I tried to get one leg up and get leverage and stand. No luck. I had no muscle control at all! MY GOODNESS! I've fallen and can't get up! I worked on the ambulance 5 years ago and ran to get fat little old ladies that fell!! OH NO!!! Now I am one!! How did that happen?? I was crying and yelling, and no-one heard me because I was in an area with old people that had their tv's blaring. I finally got my night vision and saw my wiglet laying ahead of me, so I reached for it giggling and crying. I had to crawl over to the heather plant to get it, then crawl some more to pull myself up. Whew!! I finally made it!
I can't believe this!! I just spent two weeks of my vacation taking care of my back and leg, trying not to use it and let it heal. Yesterday I had an acupuncture appointment and I feel like I am starting to heal. Now THIS!! I am so sore right now, I know I have a few more very painful months ahead of me! Oh well, I can do it. Quit my whining! I was actually very lucky!! There could've been a sharp object in the garden that could've impaled me and do some really bad damage.
You can see my knee impressions in the very very sharp lava rock, and my face imprint on the heather plant. See that grimmace?
Well y'all have a nice weekend! I am going to a memorial then home to pop about 10 oxycodone and forget about this mess!! well ok, maybe one! Posted by Picasa

Trick-Or-Treat!

I probably used this last year, but I love this picture!

A friend of mine sent me the following email...Hmmm, I wonder why??

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when:
10. You get winded from knocking on the door.
09. You have to have another kid chew the candy for you. (EEEYYYUUU)
08. You ask for high fiber candy only. (so?)
07. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall. (HAHAHAHAHA)
06. People say: "Great Boris Karloff Mask," and you're not wearing a mask. (Hmmmpppfff!)
05. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or ...." and can't remember the rest.
04. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders.
03. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece.
02. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker.
And the number one reason:
01. You keep having to go home to pee. (So?)

I have spent all day taking pictures off of my computer and on to discs. Whew, I think I need to think of a system for all the pictures I take. Right now, they are on 2 CD discs. Hopefully They all got on there, if not oh well.

We have had a marvelous sunny day today, and all I did was sit at the computer. It is Friday so at 8:00 I will go to the Bluebox AA birthday night. Believe it or not, we have alot of fun in those meetings. It is a great fellowship.

The Hungry Cyclist

I cannot just drive by something like this and not stop. I saw this cyclist on the highway and stopped to ask him what his sign meant. He spoke with the cutest english accent and told me he is cycling from New York to Rio getting local recipes. I told him to stop at Toby's Tavern on the waterfront to get the steamed muscle recipe. He thanked me and got on his way. What a cutie pie he is! God be with him and keep him safe.
His website is: http://www.thehungrycyclist.com

To all you people in the Southeast, be safe and I pray the hurricane bypasses you and dwindles down before hitting land!

Well I only have three more days of my vacation, so I think I better take a nap!

Gone Fishing!

I wonder if these guys called in sick for the day?
They are fishing for Salmon using hot pink buzz bombs.
This is right downtown Oak Harbor. Tough place to live, huh?
I haven't been fishing for a few years now but I used to go all the time at the beach where I live. Too many people now. I just don't like "combat fishing".

Yesterday my sister and I went to Seattle to the Media/Emergency Management Weather Workshop. We had lunch in the cafeteria then got a tour of the offices of NOAA. (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration). Each desk has 5 flat screen monitors on them with all sorts of neat radar type screens watching the weather form. I have always been interested in the weather and natural disasters (probably from my father). He would have loved going through that with us (actually he probably was there). Posted by Picasa

Dan Tottenham

Goodbye Sweet Dan! (Brother Joe in the background).
You will be dearly missed. You have touched more lives than you can ever imagine.
You were a friend to all that met you and you spent your last hours talking about how we can reach out and help those that need help! You knew you were only hours away from death yet you were worried about everyone else. You were a true hero to us all Dan, and I love you!
God has called you, so follow that light and know that you have fulfilled the purpose that you
were put here to do. You leave so many that love you. GOD BLESS!!

Bubba Dog

I decided to adopt a dog from the South as there are so many homeless ones now and he arrived yesterday. Meet Bubba!

Oh, please don't be offended by this, I think it is about the funniest picture I have ever seen of a dog!!
I have been under some pressure today with my friend that is dying of Leukemia. Humor (sick humor) is how I deal with stress. Just ask my sister! I saw my friend two days ago and he was walking around talking on the phone. Today he is propped up in bed and talks with a whisper. I will be amazed if he is alive next week. He has accepted this and is right with the Lord and is wondering what he will find when he dies. I told him to keep it a secret and let me find out for myself! I prayed with him and kissed him and left. He has no pain but is feeling weaker by the minute. Ten days ago he was feeling sick and went into the hospital with pneumonia and found out he has Leukemia and might last a week. I count my blessings! But for the Grace of God...Amen!

Trip to the mountains...dialogue!

Well I am pooped and have no patience trying to figure out the "new and improved" Picasa that I use to post my pictures with, so I will just use a new post.
My sister, my brother and I went to the mountains today. None of us felt great so we didn't go over the pass to get apples, we just went as far as Diablo Lake.

I think this is about the most beautiful drive in the United States! It is absolutely breath taking. These pictures do not do justice at all. The rocks you see are really huge boulders way down on the river bed that has no water yet. (wait until the Spring when the snow we hopefully get this Winter melts).

There was a Doe and two fawns at the overlook when we got there and she practically put her head in the window of the car!! I sure hate to see the deer this friendly at hunting season!!

We left about noon and I went to visit a friend of mine that just got home from the hospital (He just found out he has Leukemia and might live out the week). He looked pretty bad, but was up walking. He is mad but ready to go home (Heaven). He is only around 60!!

I looked at the scenery in a bit of a different view this time, very thankful for my brother and sister and the time we have together!!

The fall colors were about gone, but there was still some pretty sights. We got home about 8:30 tonight and ready to hit the showers!!

I am going to call it a night!!

You are 29,813,097 minutes old.
You are 1,788,785,877 seconds old. (Sheesh)!

There are 116 days till your next birthday (Yippee)!on which your cake will have 57 candles on it.

Those 57 candles produce 57 BTU's,

11
The number 11 Life Path has the connotation of illumination describing its general focus. This is the number associated with spiritual awareness. As one of the two master numbers, the 11 yields understanding and knowledge beyond the grasp of others. The attitude toward life of those possessing this Life Path is somewhat extreme; extremely intuitive, avant-garde, idealistic, visionary, and cultured. These extremes make you an interesting, if unusual person, with much to offer society. The Life Path 11 person is deep-thinking, and you are no doubt interested in understanding many of life's mysteries and more intriguing facets. Your inventive mind and broad-minded views will permit you to succeed in life in any number of ventures. You can best serve society, however, in those endeavors utilizing your skills of counseling and guidance. Much of your idealism is people oriented and quite humanitarian in nature. You expect a great deal of yourself and of those to whom you are close.
On the negative side, there is a lot of nervous tension associated with the 11 life path, and you can be a difficult person to deal with because of this. For this reason, relationships, at times, can be difficult. This is a Life Path that seems to feature broad mood swings between the elation and depression. You are likely to have trouble making decisions and getting your life in gear, so to speak. There is a tendency for the 11 to harbor feelings of uneasiness, and dissatisfaction with accomplishments and personal progress in life. Your grandiose schemes usually make sense, but you can get off the track and they can be very impractical. You have a very distinct side that lacks common sense, and you are quite often unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality. In this regard, you are perhaps more of a dreamer than a doer. When you do get on target, your ideas seem to have been inspired on high. Perhaps you are not a leader, but you are a visionary and a very talented idea person.

There are 75 days till Christmas 2005! YIKES!

The moon's phase on the day you were
born was waxing crescent.

Hmm, numerology is quite interesting, but I do not live my life on it. I have a friend that is hooked on it and cannot go down a street if it is her bad number. But then she is kinda weird all around.
Go check it out, it is fun!

Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.

Flaming Bush

I love the colors of Fall! This is one of my favorites, but I think my all favorite is the Sugar Maple. That can really put on a beautiful color show!

Tuesday My sister, my brother and I will go over the mountains for apples, so we will probably have alot of pictures to show off for ya. Unless the Fall colors are already gone. It will be fun anyway just getting off the Island and driving with no timeline!
HAHAHAHA I just woke up and came to my computer and found this half written post! I guess I fell asleep mid-way!!

Harvest Fest This Weekend

Al & Nancy

October brings on the Harvest Fest and strange sightings in Coupeville.
We have a scarecrow contest every year and the town is usually lined up with scarey statues. My friend that grows the corn for me has a great structure in his yard each year. This year he outdid himself I think. This is a crow with a ghost in his mouth! er....beak!
I am on day two of my 18 day vacation. I am planning nothing but day trips here and there. Tuesday my sister, brother and I are going over the mountains for fresh apples. Today I did nothing but laundry. Oh, I went over to Maria's house for fresh chili rejellanos and mexican rice. (the real stuff, folks, not american made).
She is making tamales again next week. hehehehe
I'm not talkative right now so just wanted to post a picture of the crow.
Have a great weekend!

Elliott's Ear

There is a definate 5 in Elliott's ear!

This is strange. Elliott was found as a "stray" in Deception Pass Park in July, and WAIF the animal shelter took him in and had him fixed then adopted him out. I was shopping for a book in the WAIF Thrift Store and saw him and went to pet him. Next thing I knew I had him in the car and heading home. I now notice a 5 tattooed in his ear. I wonder what that means? I guess I better take him to the vet and have a check-up then see if he belongs to someone that misses him alot! Dang, I sure hope they don't want him back, but I sure would. He is such a character!

I saw this weird test on Brent's site and took it. Bwahahahah How do they figure the answers? Go ahead and take it, I DARE ya!

You will be famous for eating the most hot dogs at Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating competition

One Brave Pheasant!!

I was driving to the beach today and saw this pheasant waddling across the street.
I guess he doesn't know it is hunting season! They are all over the place here. We used to have a "Pheasant farm" run by the state here a few years ago and they would release the pheasants at certain times of the year. The farm closed down a few years ago and these pheasants are stragglings from the past.
A few years ago I saw my cat over my fence in the field stalking something. I looked further out and saw she was stalking a pheasant! Now that bird was twice her size but she didn't care! Booboo would've gotten it if another neighborhood cat hadn't of scared it away! A yellow cat was a few yards away from it on the other side! I got a picture of it but I can't find it now.
I love this place I live in.

I believe - That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we
are, but we are responsible for who we become.

Busy Saturday

I was supposed to go to a conference today in Burlington for my Church but I stayed home from work yesterday with a bad cold. I still felt ill today so decided to stay home and relax! What a concept for a Saturday! My phone rang at 9:00 and woke me up, so I got up and stripped the bed and started my laundry. I then went to check my mail and go to the Nursery to buy a Lavender plant for my boss. Her mom died this week and I thought a nice plant with a pleasant aroma would be a good thing. She lives in the country so a rose bush is out because the deer would eat it.
Lavender Plant

When I gave her the plant she said that is her mom's favorite of all things! She always bought her mom lavender perfume, candles, whatever smelled like lavender. That was a good choice! Her mom was from England, and such a nice lady. She will be missed.
While I was there I took a picture of her Maine Coon cat. He is beautiful! And quite the ham for the photographer!

My Boss's Maine Coon cat

And speaking of ham!! Here are two of the kids hamming it up with me!

Kids having fun

I then went into Oak harbor to do some shopping and to fill up my water jugs, then went to city beach for a Baptism of two members of our Church. It was a touching moment. They both have come from troubled pasts, and decided to give their lives to the Lord! I have seen such a great transformation in these two in the months we have known each other!
Baptism

I left Oak Harbor about 5:15 and saw this pretty Rainbow on the way home.
Rainbow

It is now 11:00 and I am pooped and ready for bed!

I think that is a rather busy day for "staying home and doing nothing"!!

Oh well tomorrow is Church and then I can relax after I take my friend home and visit Hannah and get the laundry done!

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt
